With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets going on the road for the first time this season on Tuesday night to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles, they would need offense where they could find it, and a player that stepped up in a big way for the team again was outfielder Drew Burress.
Burress would head into the game after a 2-11 performance in the team's season-opening sweep against the Old Dominion Monarchs, which from the outside looking in does not seem great, but he scored the game-winning run in the season opener and a walk-off grand slam in game two of that series.
Burress would start the game by striking out in his first at-bat, but his second at-bat of the game would be a memorable one. In the third inning, Yellow Jackets shortstop Kyle Lodise would hit his first home run off the season, and Burress would follow it up with a home run of his own the following at bat.
Burress would reach base one other time in the contests when he was walked in the top of the ninth inning, but Yellow Jackets first baseman Kent Schmidt would ground out in the next at-bat for the team.
While the home run was the only hit that Burress got during the contest, it put the Yellow Jackets up 4-3 in the game, and the Yellow Jackets would go on to win 5-3.
Burress and the Yellow Jackets return home for a weekend series against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Friday.
