In a season that has been full of ups and downs for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team, there have been plenty of opportunities for players to step up in bigger roles for the team. Add in injuries that have plagued the team since the start of the season, and you get a team that is just looking for some sort of consistency with players. One of the players that has been crucial at times for the team, especially recently, has been junior forward Duncan Powell.

The past two games for the Yellow Jackets, the team has called on Powell to take on a bigger role on the offensive side of the ball, and he has certainly made the most out of the opportunity.

In the Yellow Jackets 91-78 loss to the Florida State Seminoles, Powell was one of three players to score 20 or more points, ending with 20. The team only played six players in the contest, and Powell led all Yellow Jackets with 11 points at halftime, a game where the team only put up 24 points in the first half. Powell was also able to grab six rebounds in the loss.

In the team's 71-64 win over Virginia Tech, Powell would set a season-high in minutes played, being on the court for all 40 minutes of the contest. It would lead to Powell setting a new career-high in points with 23. Powell also grabbed a six rebounds and a pair of steals.

The free throw line has been a second home for Powell as he has made 17 of his 21 free throw attempts in the past two games.

Powell and the Yellow Jackets will be back in action Tuesday, as they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 9pm Eastern time.
