Following his performance against the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King has been named ACC Quarterback of the Week.

King won over the hearts of almost everyone that watched the game, as he led the 20.5-point underdog to a heartbreaking 44-42 loss. The junior put on a show in the first half, as he scored on a 2-yard run from two yards out, then later in the half found Jamal Haynes on a screen pass for a 4-yard touchdown pass. The Yellow Jackets would head into halftime up 17-0, and looking at a very real possibility of an upset in Athens against the No. 7 team in the country.

The second half for King showed the resilience of the 22-year old from Longview, Texas, as he would lead the Yellow Jackets down the field for an 18-play, 90-yard drive, in which King was responsible for 82 yards, that ate up over ten minutes of clock and resulted in a Yellow Jackets field goal.

With the Yellow Jackets up 20-13 in the fourth quarter, King marched the Yellow Jackets down the field yet again, this time contributing 47 yards out of 67, that led to him scoring on an 11-yard touchdown, to give the Yellow Jackets a 27-13 lead with 5:37 left in the game.

The next time King came on the field, he made what was perhaps his only mistake of the night, a fumble deep in Georgia Tech territory that would give the Bulldogs possession late in the game.

In the first overtime, King would find receiver Eric Singleton Jr., from 12 yards out to tie the game and keep the Yellow Jackets upset hopes alive., then a rushing score from 1-yard out in second overtime to extend the game.

In the fifth overtime, King would find receiver Malik Rutherford for a successful two-point conversion.

However, all of this would not be enough, as the Bulldogs would prevail 44-42. King finished the game 26/36 passing for 303 yards and added 110 yards on the ground. In total, he contributed five touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets, two through the air and three on the ground.
