This morning, Georgia Tech quarterback put out a statement on social media platform X, announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal for the 2025 college football season.
"After much prayer, and conversation with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining. I'm excited to embrace the next chapter of my journey"Zach Pyron
Pyron won over the hearts of the Yellow Jacket fan base two seasons ago, when he appeared in four games, starting two of them. He accounted for 692 yards of offense and five touchdowns in those games. The performance that sticks out the most in those games was his performance against Virginia Tech, where he led the Yellow Jackets to a 11-point comeback. The performance would earn him ACC Rookie of the Week.
However, the next week, Pyron would endure a season-ending injury in the first half against the Miami Hurricanes.
Haynes King would take over the starting spot in 2023, and Pyron would assume the role of a gadget quarterback for the season. This season, his role seemed to diminish more after a less-than-stellar performance in his only start of the season against Notre Dame., in which he would be replaced with then-third string quarterback Aaron Philo.
Pyron was a 4-star recruit from Alabama, where he found success, winning two state championships as the starting quarterback for Fyffe High School, then winning another his junior year at Pinson Valley. He was ranked as the No. 9 quarterback nationally in the 2021 Elite 11 quarterback competition.
