With the Spring transfer portal in full swing, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key has wasted no time at all trying to go after players that both he and new defensive coordinator Blake Gideon are high on, and the Yellow Jackets got another player like that with the transfer of former Georgia State Panthers safety Jyron Gilmore.
Gilmore comes to the Yellow Jackets after previously playing four seasons with the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and one season with the Panthers. During his time with the Golden Eagles, Gilmore accumulated 115 tackles, three interceptions, and eight pass breakups.
Gilmore would then take his talent to the next level, transferring to the Panthers before last season and playing in all 12 games for the Panthers. Gilmore finished second on the team in interceptions with two and recorded 53 tackles. This season would prove to a lot of colleges around the nation that Gilmore could be a big name safety in college football this season
Gilmore would choose the Yellow Jackets as his transfer destination, and it is just another big offseason move that the Yellow Jackets just can not seem to stop making, as Key has unloaded into the secondary in the both the Winter and Spring transfer portals, bringing in guys like former Penn State cornerback Jon Mitchell and former Colorado safety Savion Riley.
What Key and Gideon have been able to do for the team since the Spring transfer portal opened is something that all teams around the country should take note of.
