Every year, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets announce a new group of former sports figures that will be joining the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, and the list features some of the best sports figures to come through the program. One of those players in the 2025 class is none other than Yellow Jackets football legend Shaq Mason.

Mason was a guard for the Yellow Jackets from 2011-2014, where he appeared in 52 of 54 total games for the Yellow Jackets during his four-year career. Mason started every game for the Yellow Jackets in his last three years with the team.

Mason was a key contributor on the offensive line for the Yellow Jackets triple option rushing attack in his sophomore and junior years, but his 2014 senior season is when he came into national prominence, as the Yellow Jackets broke the school record for rushing yards in a season (4,789). Mason would be selected to the All-American First Team by USA Today after his stellar 2014 season.

After his college career, Mason would be selected in the fourth round by the New England Patriots, where he would spend the first seven years of his career before playing one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans.

Other sports figures that will be joining Mason will be golf duo Anders Albertson and Ollie Schniederjans, former women’s basketball coach Jim Culpepper, baseball catcher Zane Evans, hurdler Montrell Person, tennis player Juan Spir, and golf player Matt Weibring.
