College football fans gather around every offseason waiting to see when the most important home games for their team is: the homecoming game. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have announced their opponent for their homecoming game in 2025, and it is a team that has a storyline to it: the Syracuse Orange.

Last season, the Yellow Jackets became ranked for the first time in a decade after beating Florida State and Georgia State in the first three games of the season, putting them at 2-0 and No. 23 with a road trip to the Orange up next.

The Orange would dismantle the Yellow Jackets from the beginning of the game, as Orange quarterback Kyle McCord tore through the Yellow Jackets defense to the tune of 381 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Orange to a 31-28 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King attempted 39 passes in the game, throwing for 266 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 67 yards and scoring another two touchdowns on the ground.

The Orange will now come to Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2025, and they will be without McCord and leading receiver Trebor Pena this season, expecting to take a step back from 2024, while the Yellow Jackets are slated to take a big step forward.

The scheduling of making the Orange the homecoming game was brilliant, as it also plays into an emotional factor for the team next season, trying to prove that last season’s game was just a fluke and not what Yellow Jackets fans can expect.
