When recruiting, a lot of college baseball coaches are not looking for a lot of players that can play right away, as there are difficult challenges for players translating what they did in high school to what they will do in college, but every now and then you get some players that are exceptions to that, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball head coach Danny Hall has had not just one, but a few freshmen that have stepped up to the plate for the team this season and have shown surprising results.

Perhaps the biggest impact player of the group is Alex Hernandez, who at times has felt like the Yellow Jackets best player at the plate. Hernandez has started all 43 games for the Yellow Jackets, and is tied for the team lead in RBI this season. Hernandez has been the best freshman for the Yellow Jackets this season, and he could start gaining national attention as the end of the season approaches.

Another freshman that has come up big for the Yellow Jackets is Caleb Daniel, who has been consistent in being a power hitter, as he is fourth on the team in home runs this season with five. Daniel has also started all but one game for the Yellow Jackets this season.

In a year where the Yellow Jackets have had one of the best lineups in all of college baseball, it is magnificent that both Hernandez and Daniel have been able to be as productive as they have.
