It was only a matter of time for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball fans before they would hear the saddening news that they were not ready to hear: the man that has been at the head of the Yellow Jackets baseball program, Danny Hall, would be retiring at the end of the season.
Hall has been the face of the baseball program for the Yellow Jackets for the past 37 seasons, and with this season, it will mark number 38 with the team.
Throughout his 38 year career, Hall has made the Yellow Jackets a consistent threat in the college baseball landscape, as he has made the NCAA tournament in 31 of 37 seasons at the helm, only missing the tournament in consecutive years one time (2017 & 2018).
During his tenure, Hall has taken the Yellow Jackets to six NCAA Region Championships, four College World Series appearances, and a runner-up in the College World Series in 1994.
Hall currently sits at tenth all time in NCAA history in wins with 1,432.
With all the changes and players that have come through the program, Hall has been one of the only constants, while he has coached the likes of Charlie Blackmon, Mark Teixiera, Nomar Garciaparra, and Matt Wieters.
The Georgia Tech program has established itself as one of the best in the country this century, and having Danny Hall at the helm for the program has made a huge positive difference for the team throughout those seasons, and has given pride to a lot of Yellow Jackets fans, such as myself, to be a fan of a program that has produced consistent results.
