In what will be his final season, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head coach Danny Hall has been named the ACC Coach of the Year. However, that does not mean that this season has been perfect for Hall and the Yellow Jackets, as the team has stumbled along the way, facing a seven-game losing streak at one point.
It was how the Yellow Jackets started the season that put a lot of eyes on the team in the conference, as they would start the season 20-4, and losing just one game in their first three ACC series.

A series lost to the Clemson Tigers would set the Yellow Jackets back a little bit, but the team would rebound quickly, sweeping the Stanford Cardinal and California Golden Bears. Then the wheels came off for the team, as they lost seven straight games, including getting swept for the only time of the season against the Miami Hurricanes and a series loss to Virginia.

It seemed like all hope was lost for the Yellow Jackets heading into their final two series of the season: two ranked matchups against the Louisville Cardinals and the Duke Blue Devils.

Against the Cardinals, the Yellow Jackets would lose game one, but in a doubleheader, it would be the most brilliant pitching day of Danny Hall’s coaching career, as the Yellow Jackets would hold the Cardinals to only two hits across both games.

Then against the Blue Devils, the Yellow Jackets would win game one, lose game two, and by a miraculous string of results elsewhere in the conference, set themselves up to win the ACC regular season championship with a win in game three, which they did so 8-2.

Through it all, Hall has been the biggest reason that the team has been put in the position that they are in now, and winning the ACC Coach of the Year award was well-deserved.
