The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets started their season off as one of the best in school history, at one points sitting at 29-7 and climbing all the way up to No.13 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25. Now, just 11 days later after that historic start, the Yellow Jackets sit at 29-14, and losers of their last seven games.
Now they head into their last game of their weekend series against the Virginia Cavaliers in a complete freefall, needing a win to just keep the season from going off the rails.
The first two games of the series have given the Yellow Jackets lineup and Yellow Jackets fans at least a little bit of hope, as they scored nine runs in a 12-9 game one loss and nearly completed a comeback last night in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, before ultimately losing 6-5.
The increased production from the lineup could create at least some momentum heading into today's game, with Connor Shouse coming up huge for the Yellow Jackets last night, bringing home three Yellow Jackets runs, one from a solo home run in the eighth inning and , and a base clearing double in the ninth inning that brought home catcher Vahn Lackey and pinch runner Cooper McMullen to make the game 6-5.
After today, the Yellow Jackets will have just two more ACC weekend series left in the season, a home series against Louisville and a road series against Duke to close the season out.
First pitch for the game today is set for 1pm Eastern time.
