Heading into the Georgia Bulldogs game a week ago, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team seemed to be one of the best lineups in all of college baseball. They were leading the nation in doubles and were top five in runs scored. However, a lot can change in a week, and it definitely did, as the Yellow Jackets have now lost five straight games.
The trouble started with the Bulldogs, where the Yellow Jackets scored just two runs in a 5-2 loss, which to be fair, the Bulldogs were the No.3 team in the country heading into the matchup. But then came the weekend.
The Yellow Jackets were expected to win at least two games in their series against the Miami Hurricanes, with some fans even think that they could walk away with a full weekend sweep. However, the weekend could not go worse for the Yellow Jackets, as the lineup never did get the offense rolling, as they wound up scoring two runs in all three of the games. The Yellow Jackets would lose 4-2, 7-2, and 10-2 throughout the weekend.
Then today, the Yellow Jackets lineup mustered just two hits in a loss to the No.11 Auburn Tigers, a game in which the Yellow Jackets just needed the lineup to show up a little bit. In a game in which the Yellow Jackets pitching did an outstanding job, losing 1-0, the lineup for the Yellow Jackets looked lost.
Heading into the series against the Virginia Cavaliers starting Friday needing a big showing for the offense to get their confidence back.
