The upcoming Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball season may be a long way away, but the team has now found out the date of one of the biggest nonconference games on their schedule, as it has been announced that they will take on their in-state rival on Nov. 14 in Athens, Ga.

The announcement is the first confirmed date for any Yellow Jackets game for the upcoming season and will be a big early season road test for the team.

The Bulldogs made the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time in ten seasons, before losing to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the first round, while the Yellow Jackets accepted an invitation the the NIT Tournament, where they were bounced by the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the first round.

The two teams met early last season as well, with the Bulldogs coming out on top 77-69. The upcoming matchup will be the 126th meeting between the two teams overall.

This will be a pivotal year for Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire, as there have been frustrations within the fan base of Stoudamire’s in-game decision making in his first two seasons, with some fans already ready to move on from the coach. Stoudamire sits at 0-2 in his first two season against the Bulldogs, losing 76-62 in his first season with the Yellow Jackets.

While dates have not been confirmed for the Yellow Jackets ACC conference schedule this season, their opponents have been announced, with the only ACC team not on their schedule being the SMU Mustangs.
