In the midst of the college basketball offseason, teams are now officially having both incoming transfers from the transfer portal and incoming recruits from the 2025 class signing with their respective teams. For the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, it means that they now officially welcome Mohamed Sylla to the team.

Sylla is a 6-10 center that has spent time playing with Bella Vista College Prepatory school in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sylla was a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruitment cycle, where he was rated as the No.2 overall center, with praises of his interior defense and blocking ability at the rim.

“We’re excited to have Mo in the fold! He will impact us from Day 1,” said Stoudamire. “With Baye [Ndongo] back along with our other post additions, we’ll have one of the top front courts in the country. Mo can guard five positions. He immediately gives us another offensive rebounder and rim runner, and he is an elite shot blocker. He’s underrated around the basket, and his offensive game will grow!”

The Yellow Jackets will welcome Sylla with open arms, and could put him as an immediate starter in the lineup, having him play alongside star forward Baye Ndongo, who will be looking for another big to rely on, as Duncan Powell, the usual starter alongside Ndongo, left in the offseason to join the Providence Friars.

The Yellow Jackets lack depth at guard and will have to rely on a tandem down low for the team to have any kind of success next season, and getting Sylla was a huge part of that process.
