Heading into their quarterfinals matchup against the California Golden Bears, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had not played a game in four days, while the Golden bears had won in consecutive days in the first two rounds of the ACC Tournament against the Miami Hurricanes and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. However, the top-seeded Yellow Jackets made their presence known to the ACC, as they would win the contest 10-3.

It started in the bottom of the first inning, where the Yellow Jackets would begin what would be a historic day for the lineup, as Drew Burress, Kyle Lodise, and Caleb Daniel all hit home runs in the first inning for the Yellow Jackets to take a 4-0 lead heading into the second inning. Alex Hernandez, Vahn Lackey, and Drew Rogers would all hit their own home runs in the contest, and Burress would wind up with his second multi home run game of the season.

Tate McKee would get the start on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, and he would put on a stellar performance. McKee would go 6.1 innings, and while he allowed eight hits, McKee would only allow two runs to a lineup that had scored 26 runs in their last two games. McKee would set a new personal best in pitches in the game, with 104, and struck out a total of ten batters in game. Mason Patel and Brett Barfield would close out the game for the Yellow Jackets, with both combining to allow just four hits.
