The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team hosted the Alabama A&M Aggies yesterday in a nonconference game, with the Yellow Jackets pulling out a 92-49 victory.
It took a while in the first half for the Yellow Jackets to pull away, as the Aggies went toe-to-toe with the Yellow Jackets for the first nine minutes of the game, only being down by one point, 16-15. The Yellow Jackets would then go on a 12-0 run that would provide the offense with the spark it needed to get going. Going into halftime, the Yellow Jackets found themselves up 50-25.
The Yellow Jackets dominated the second half as well, as they outscored the Aggies 42-24 to close the game out.
For the first time since coming back from his concussion, Yellow Jackets Javian McCollum put up a strong performance, scoring 18 points off the bench, shooting 5-11 in the contest, infusing making three shots from beyond the arc.
Guard Lance Terry led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 22 points. Forwards Baye Ndongo and Jaeden Mustaf also scored in double digits, with Mustaf scoring 13 points while Ndongo put up 10 points.
The game put an end to the nonconference schedule for the Yellow Jackets. The team finishes 6-5 in nonconference play this season, with no real signature win and a pretty sour start to the season.
The Yellow Jackets will see action one more time in 2024, when they host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on New Years Eve. The game is set to tip off at 2:30 Eastern time.
