The first two rounds of the ACC Tournament are over, and while we have seen some surprises from around the bracket, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fans have been watching the lowest seed in the tournament, the California Golden Bears, tear through both the Miami Hurricanes and Wake Forest Demon Deacons in their first two matchups of the tournament. But the Yellow Jackets could make history themselves in this year's ACC Tournament.
If the Yellow Jackets are able to win the ACC Tournament, it will be their tenth ACC title in program history, which will put them one title behind the Clemson Tigers for the most in the conference.
The Tigers have had more recent success than the Yellow Jackets, as they have won two titles since 2014, one in 2016, and one in 2023.
The Yellow Jackets have not won and ACC title since 2014, when they defeated the Maryland Terrapins 9-4 to claim their second ACC title in three seasons. That 2014 team entered the tournament as the No.9 seed in the tournament.
This time around, the Yellow Jackets will be on the other side of a cinderella run, as they are the top seed in the ACC Tournament. If the Yellow Jackets beat the Golden Bears today, they will face either the Clemson Tigers or NC State Wolfpack in the semifinals.
The Yellow Jackets and Golden Bears are set for a 3pm Eastern time first pitch today, while the semifinal game for the winner will be at 1pm Eastern time on Saturday.
