With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets needing a big road win, their game on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Panthers would be one of the last chances to get it during the regular season, and they Yellow Jackets did just that as they walked out with a 73-67 victory.
The Yellow Jackets offense would get the scoring started early, as they would jump out to a 20-8 lead to start the game. The lead was the result of stellar guard play by Lance Terry and Nathan George, who would score 15 of the team’s first 20 points.
The Yellow Jackets would take a 35-20 lead heading into halftime.
The second half would see the Yellow Jackets grow their lead, as they once held a nine-point lead in the second half,going up 56-47.
However, the Panthers would then go on a 10-0 run to take a one-point lead with 5:34 left in the game. The Yellow Jackets would then go on their own 7-0 run to regain the lead and go up 65-59.
The Panthers would battle back to tie the game with just over a minute remaining, but the Yellow Jackets would score the game’s final six points to secure the 73-67 victory.
Dwight Powell would score a career-high 26 points, while Lance Terry would score 20 points. Naithan George would score 16 points, while Ndongo would get his sixth double double in seven games, scoring 11 points and a season-high 17 rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Saturday, as they will host NC State at 3pm Eastern time.
