After much speculation on exactly what bowl game the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would play in, the anticipation is over, and the Yellow Jackets have officially accepted an invite to play in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 27.

It was announced shortly after the CFP selection show that the Yellow Jackets got an invite, but they would have to wait and see which SEC team would accept the invite from their conference. It seemed that the three teams that could get invited would be the Oklahoma Sooners, Arkansas Razorbacks, or Vanderbilt Commodores. Alast, the team that would get the nod would be the Commodores.

It will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2016, when the Yellow Jackets beat the Commodores 38-7. The two founding members of the SEC had a long history with each other until the Yellow Jackets moved over the the Independents in 1964. The Yellow jackets lead the all-time series 20-15-3, with the Yellow Jackets either winning or tying the last 13 meetings, so the Commodores haven’t beat the Yellow Jackets since 1941.

The game will be a close one distance wise for both teams, so I think that we can expect a good split between the two teams.

If the Yellow Jackets pull off the victory against the Commodores, then the program will celebrate bowl wins in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
