We are now 98 days away from the start of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets season opener against the Colorado Buffaloes on Aug. 29, and while it may seem far away, we are closer than you might think, so let's take a look at the greatest Yellow Jackets player to wear number 98: Kevin Battle.

A defensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets, Battle was an integral part of the 1990 Yellow Jackets team that earned a share of the National Championship with, coincidentally, the Colorado Buffaloes.

That 1990 season was a special one on The Flats, but it was also a special one for Battle as well, as he would finish the season with a total of 55 tackles, which as a defensive lineman is absolutely insane. During that season, Battle would get to the quarterback eight times.

Battle would continue to play for the Yellow Jackets until 1992, but would never make his way to the NFL after not being selected in the 1993 NFL Draft.

Although he did not find professional success, the time that Battle spent at the Flats were some of the best times in the program's history.

You can not write the history of Georgia Tech football without mentioning Battle and his claim to fame for being one of the biggest parts of the best defense that has ever took the field for the Yellow Jackets, and for that, he is chosen for this list of the best athletes to come out of the Yellow Jackets program.
