For the last two seasons, Savion Riley has worn the colors of gold and black, committing to the Vanderbilt Commodores in the 2023 recruiting class before transferring to the Colorado Buffaloes after one season. Now Riley will stick with the gold, but trade the black for the white, as he has decided to transfer to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Riley played in eight games for the Commodores as a freshman, where he recorded 48 total tackles, including a 12 tackle performance against the Florida Gators and a nine tackle performance against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Riley cashed in on his opportunity to play at a bigger school quick, as he transferred to the Buffaloes after just one season with the Commodores. However, Riley would not see the same playing time with the Buffaloes, as he would only see action in four games, mainly to preserve another year of eligibility.

Riley entered the transfer portal yet again this offseason, and it did not take long for the Acworth, GA native to decide that he would be heading back to his roots, as he chose the Yellow Jackets as his next destination.

Riley comes to the Yellow Jackets in a time where the team is looking for depth in the secondary and new defensive coordinator Blake Gideon looks like he loves to run a 4-2-5 defense, so depth in the secondary is something that is important for the defense to work.

This and the addition of former Penn State cornerback Jon Mitchell shows where head coach Brent Key is focusing on in the Spring transfer portal.
