The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2025 season was definitely one to be remembered for Yellow Jackets fans, and the team was gifted rings for their berth in the Birmingham Bowl, but the talk of the college football world is if the team actually deserved the rings. After all the Yellow Jackets finished 7-6, right?

First and foremost, yes, the Yellow Jackets did finish 7-6 last season, and made a bowl game for the second consecutive season. From an outside perspective, that 7-6 record does not look impressive, but that just means that college football fans can not grasp just how special of a season it was on The Flats last season.

The Yellow Jackets finished the season undefeated at Bobby Dodd Stadium, with wins over VMI, Georgia State, Duke, Miami, and NC State.

The message all season for the team was to keep fighting and playing up to their competition, even if that meant playing three top ten teams during the regular season, and going 2-1 against them. A home win over the then-No.4 ranked Miami Hurricanes, a win in Dublin over the then-No.10 ranked Florida State Seminoles, and a 44-42 eight overtime loss to the then No.2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Fom an outsider perspective, the rings do seem to be a "participation trophy", this team was built on grit and never giving up, something that all of us can learn from. It was about a team that faced adversity against bigger schools, and gave it everything they had no matter who the opponent was. For me, this is a team that we all can learn a lot from, and one that will hold a special place as a turnaround season for Yellow Jackets fans.
