The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team from last season was without a doubt one of the best in the past ten seasons, and that wonderful season was celebrated with a ring that was shipped by the Birmingham Bowl. But we're the rings really all that necessary?
For starters, let's get this out of the way: yes, the Yellow Jackets finished 7-6 last season. Yes, the Yellow Jackets lost 35-27. And yes, that team will not seem like much to the average fan. However, that team will forever hold a place in Yellow Jackets fans hearts.
The 2024-25 season for the Yellow Jackets was about one thing: a return to prominence. The team set out to re-establish the Yellow Jackets brand of football, and they did that by consistently playing to a higher level. For example, they nearly beat the in-state rival Georgia Bulldogs in the last game of the regular season, and got an upset win over the then-No.4 ranked Miami Hurricanes in the biggest win in program history since the 2015 Orange Bowl.
For the seniors on the team, it shows their perseverance to stay with the program through tough times when the team was not winning at all, and a reward for all the work that they have put in for the program.
For the entire team? I would say that they should not have gotten them, but the seniors on the team that have seen how much the program has grown since their arrival, it would be seen more as a thank you present to them.
