The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets entered yesterday's contest against the Clemson Tigers as losers of the last two games that they played, so getting back on the right track with a win against the Tigers was crucial to the team staying afloat this season. However, the Tigers had other plans, and wound up beating the Yellow Jackets 70-59.
The two teams struggled in the first half offensively, with neither team making a three-pointer until the 15th attempt of the game. The Yellow Jackets missed their first ten shots of the contest, leading to another horrendous offensive showing for the team.
The Yellow Jackets defense would keep them in the game for a while in the first half, at one point making it a one-point game, but the Tigers offense heated up late in the first half and they headed to the locker room on a 17-6 run to make the score 36-25.
The offense played better in the second half, putting up 34 points, but the Tigers proved to be too much for the Yellow Jackets to handle.
Four of the five starters for the Tigers ended up with at least ten points in the contest, with senior guard Jaeden Zackery leading the way for the team with 21 points, while Yellow Jackets forward Baye Ndongo put up a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Nathan George had 13 points, Javian McCollum finished with 11 points, and Jaeden Mustaf finished with 12 points.
The Yellow Jackets slip to 8-10 this season and will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles.
