The No.5 overall center in the 2025 recruiting cycle, Mouhamed Sylla, has narrowed down his selections for where he will begin his college career to five schools, with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets making the cut for the coveted player.
At 6’10”, Sylla could solve a big issue that the Yellow Jackets have this season by bringing in a dominant rebounder. The Yellow Jackets only have two players, senior Ryan Mutombo and sophomore Baye Ndongo, averaging at least seven rebounds per game, but the team lacks a superstar that can dominate inside the paint.
Sylla is originally from Mexico, but plays basketball at Bella Vista Prep.
The Yellow Jackets have not officially offered a scholarship to Sylla, joining the Kansas Jayhawks as the only other team in his top three to not offer the highly touted prospect. The other three schools in Sylla’s top five, the Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, and Arkansas Razorbacks have hosted the four-star recruit on official visits. The Yellow Jackets brought in Sylla for an official visit on Oct. 31. A decision is expected soon for Sylla, as he is one of only five players left in 24/7Sports Top Basketball Recruits top 30 to not have committed to a school yet.
Landing Sylla would be a huge step forward for the program and head coach Damon Stoudemire, who currently sit at 5-6 this season and trying to get back on track to avoid Stoudemire’s second straight losing season, and the program’s fourth straight overall. with a less than favorable chance in their next game against the No.5 ranked Duke Blue Devils, who they will face Sunday at noon Eastern time.
