The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are currently in a battle with the Florida State Seminoles, two teams looking to salvage their seasons and need wins where they can get them.
The Seminoles started the game out firing on all cylinders, as the made three of their first four shots to build a 7-2 lead, while the Yellow Jackets offense struggled to even get a shot to fall, as they started the game 1-7 from the field. Perhaps the most impressive thing from either team to start the game, was Florida State’s ability to shoot from beyond the arc, making three of their first seven shots from three-point range.
The slow start on offense is something that has seemed to become a routine thing for the Yellow Jackets, and that continued in this game, as there was a staggering 3:48 time frame between the Yellow Jackets first made field goal of the game and the second made field goal of the game. The Seminoles capitalized on that slow start, jumping out to a 16-6 lead.
Both teams seemed to put emphasis on ball movement early in the game, as the two teams combined for only four total turnovers in the first ten minutes of play, and the two teams combined for six assists in the game’s first nine shots made.
The Seminoles would then go on a 7-2 run before Yellow Jackets forward Baye Ndongo would get a dunk from under the basket to make it 23-10 in favor of the Seminoles. Two straight possessions by the Yellow Jackets would result in turnovers and five points by the Seminoles.
From there, the two teams would trade baskets back and forth, with the Seminoles heading to the locker room with a 37-24 lead.
Duncan Powell leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 11 points, six of which has come from the free throw line. Lance Terry made his return to the team after a one game absence, and has six points. Ndongo leads all players with ten rebounds at the half.
