It’s the name that has been synonymous with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball program for the last two years: Drew Burress.

Whether it be his record-shattering freshman season last year or his follow up season this season, Burress has been one of the most decorated players to come through the Yellow Jackets program. Burress added on to the list of his awards, as he was named the ACC Player of the Week for this past week.

The achievement comes after what was the biggest series of the Yellow Jackets regular season, which seen Burress do what he does best: get on base and provide a spark to the Yellow Jackets offense when they need it.

Burress had what was perhaps his best game of the season when the lights shined the brightest in the Yellow Jackets regular season finale against the then-No.20 ranked Duke Blue Devils, going 4-4 for the Yellow Jackets and driving in two runs, but three of the hits were extra base hits: two doubles and a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to help put the game away.

Over the course of the entire series against the Blue Devils, Burress would go 8-12, as he also hit 4-4 in the first game of the series as well before going hitless in game two.

The series was a huge one for the Yellow Jackets, and no one was more willing to step up to the plate than Burress, who’s performance in the last series of the regular season will be something that Yellow Jackets fans will remember for a while.
