Heading into the last game of their four-game series today, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pitching staff allowed just nine runs over the first three games of the series, so they should have had all the confidence in the world that they could have handled the lineup, however that was not the case and the Thundering Herd would get a 12-8 victory.
Cayden Spivey would get the start on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, and would get through the first two innings without a blemish, not allowing a hit, striking out three, and walking just one batter. However in the third inning, the wheels would come off, as Spivey would allow two runs before being substituted for Sam Swygert to start the third inning.
Swygert would all four hits in three innings of work and allow one run, putting together a great three inning stretch of pitching for the Yellow Jackets, but Caden Caudette would take his spot to begin the seventh inning with the Yellow Jackets up 7-4, but that's when disaster struck for the Yellow Jackets.
Caudette would allow two runs in the seventh inning, before being substituted for Alex Hernandez, who would record just one out but give up three runs on a home run. Kayden Campbell would come in, but gave up a home run to his first batter faced to put the Thundering Herd up 10-7.
Thorpe Musci would get two outs in the ninth inning, but allow two runs, before Brett Barfield would record the final out for the Yellow Jackets.
