The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lineup came up in a big way for the team yesterday, as they set out to prove that their lineup was one of the best in the country, and they did exactly that with a spectacular performance in their first game of the NCAA Tournament against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

The Yellow Jackets came into the game scoring zero runs in the last eight innings of baseball that they played, in a 9-4 semifinal loss to the Clemson Tigers in the ACC Tournament, so there were concerns about if the lineup could produce. After all, this is not the first time that we have seen the offense be inconsistent this season, as at one point towards the middle of the season, the team scored eight total runs in a five-game stretch, including their lone shutout of the season against the Auburn Tigers.

The lineup would get the ball rolling early, as freshman Alex Hernandez would hit a three-run bomb in the bottom of the first inning, but Hernandez would also leave another mark on the game by hitting another three-run bomb in the bottom of the eighth inning. Add the rest of the lineup up, and the Yellow Jackets walked away with a total of 11 hits, four of which came by way of Hernandez, and nine runs, six of which came from Hernandez.

The lineup will look to continue that success today, as they will take on the Murray State Racers in their second game of the NCAA Tournament, and a chance to almost secure a spot in the Super Regionals.
