The 2025 season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be one that will go down in the history books as one of the most decorated teams in program history, and the accolades keep on pouring in for the team, this time for Kyle Lodise, who has been named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, given to the top shortstop in college baseball.
You do not have to look too far to find out why Lodise was named as a semifinalist for the award, as he posted a .328 batting average this season while appearing in 50 of the Yellow Jackets 55 games last season.
Lodise was second on the team in a multitude of hitting categories, some of which include home runs, with 14 and doubles, with 20. Lodise led the Yellow Jackets in triples with three last season. Three of those 14 home runs came from a game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish back on March 21. He was one of six players with at least 20 doubles this season.
Lodise is just the third Yellow Jackets shortstop in program history to be named a semifinalist for the award, joining Luke Waddell in 2019 and Derek Dietrich in 2009.
Lodise and the Yellow Jackets will be in action today, as they will suit up for a contest with the California Golden Bears in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The Yellow Jackets are the No.1 overall seed in the tournament, while the Golden Bears came into the tournament as the lowest seeded team.
