The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets know that they have a hole to be filled in the starting lineup with the transfer of Naithan George and graduation of Lance Terry, and the Yellow Jackets got one step closer to filling one of those holes with their recent signing in Lamar Washington.

The 6 foot 4 inch guard from Portland, Oregon has spent the past three seasons playing at both Texas Tech and Pacific. Washington spent his first two collegiate seasons with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, where he seen action in 30 games his freshman season, followed by appearing in 32 games his sophomore season.

Washington would transfer after his sophomore season to the Pacific Tigers, where he would get his chance to prove himself as the "go to guy", averaging 13.5 points per game. Points was not all that the junior could offer the Tigers, as he would finish second on the team in rebounds per game with 5.1, and lead the team in assists per game with 5.8.

Washington seems to be the best answer that the Yellow Jackets have had for the departure of George, as he seems to be the most complete point guard joining the roster this season. He averaged 34.3 minutes per game last season, which was the most on the Tigers team, and would have been the third most on the team season, behind, coincidentally, both Terry and George.

Washington will transfer in as a senior with one more season of eligibility left, so Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire will try to use him as much as possible this season.
