The 2025 NFL Draft was one to be remembered for a lot of things, such as the dropping of Shadeur Sanders and the Jacksonville Jaguars trading up to get Travis Hunter, but something that Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fans can rejoice in is the fact that their was a Yellow Jackets player taken, and that player is tight end Jackson Hawes.

Hawes came into the draft not realy knowing if he would get drafted, and if he did, he knew that it would be late in the draft. However, he went higher than most people probably had him, as he went in the fifth round with the 173rd pick in the draft to the Buffalo Bills.

Hawes could not have asked for a better situation to come into in the league that what he has with the Buffalo Bills, as they are a team that ran a double tight end formation 40% of the time last season with the duo of Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid. Adding in Hawes to that is something that could mean a good amount of production from him, as Kincaid did miss three games last season.

While a decent pass catcher, the former Yellow Jackets tight end was known for something much more valuable in college: blocking. And with Bills quarterback Josh Allen running a lot of quarterback draws outside, it could put a spotlight on Hawes and his tremendous blocking ability. Either way, there could not have been a better fit for Hawes to walk into.
