The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets entered their contest against the Virginia Cavaliers trying to fend off one of the teams that was just above the cutoff line for the ACC tournament, and they are currently battling with the Cavaliers, down 41-36 at halftime.
The Cavaliers would start off the game making three straight three-point attempts in their first three possessions, two of which coming from junior guard Isaac McNeely, jumping out to a 9-0 lead early in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets would then go on their own run, cutting the lead from 9-0 to 9-8 after a three-point attempt by junior forward Duncan Powell went in.
The two teams would battle back and forth with neither team able to create separation on the scoreboard for the rest of the first ten minutes of the contest, as the teams were tied 19-19.
The Yellow Jackets would take the lead for the first time in the contest after sophomore forward Baye Ndongo would make a layup to make the score 21-19.
The two teams would again go back and forth scoring, with the Cavaliers building an at-most four point lead, 31-27, after another McNeely three with 5:25 left in the first half.
The Cavaliers would go on a 10-9 run to end the half up 41-36.
Naithan George would lead the Yellow Jackets in points, scoring 15. Powell contributed 10 points, while Ndongo would score 7.
McNeely leads all players in scoring for the contest, making seven of his ten shots, including 4-6 from beyond the arc, to finish the half with 18 points.
