The final day of the 2024 NCAA calendar year is set for today, and plenty has happened over the past year in college athletics, but it has been a huge calendar year for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, especially for the big five sports: football, softball, baseball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.
All five teams seen postseason play, and all five teams finished the season at at least .500, with the men’s basketball team finishing at the .500 mark. The softball team, baseball team, and women’s basketball team mall made the NCAA Tournaments, with the baseball team being the only one that got a victory in the postseason.
The football team seen a huge upset of the No.4 ranked Miami Hurricanes and No.10 ranked Florida State Seminoles, while the men’s basketball team got a huge upset over win in a triple overtime thriller over the Clemson Tigers.
The women’s basketball team got off to a 16-0 start, the best start in the program’s history. They were able to climb all the way to No.13 in the AP Top 25 poll.
The baseball team proved to be among one of the best in the country, as they led all Power 4 teams in doubles and became one the most prolific offenses in the entire country.
All five teams are destined for a huge year next calendar year as well, with the women’s basketball team and baseball team both welcoming new coaches next season, while football coach Brent Key has the program in the best spot that the team has been in in at least a decade.
