Yesterday, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team traveled to take on the No.20 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, and possibly knock them off again like they did last season, but fate had other plans as the Tar Heels held strong and the Yellow Jackets fell just short of another upset, with the Tar Heels winning 68-65.

The Yellow Jackets built a 16-8 lead early in the first half, but that would be the team’s largest lead of the game, as the Tar Heels offense would get a spark and out score the Yellow Jackets 23-14 over the final ten minutes of the first half, taking a 31-30 lead into halftime.

The second half was a back-and-forth game with no team creating separation on the scoreboard, until a made three-pointer by Elliot Cadeau paired with two made free throws by Ian Jackson put the Tar Heels up 64-57 with 1:11 left to go in the game. The deficit was too much for the Yellow Jackets to overcome in so little time.

Yellow Jacket guard Lance Terry led all player in the game with 22 points, while forward Baye Ndongo put up his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Guard Nathan George was the only other Yellow Jacket to score in double figures, scoring 12.

The Yellow Jackets will have a little bit of a break before seeing the court again, as their next game will have a full week off before traveling to Northwestern on Dec. 15 for their next game.
