The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are in a good position for the future with Brent Key at the helm, and one of the position groups that has vastly improved since his arrival has been the wide receiver room. Whether it be making stars of Eric Singleton Jr or Malik Rutherford, Key has been a great evaluator of talent at the position and this offseason was no different.

The Yellow Jackets added in ten new wide receivers to the roster between the transfer portal and the 2026 recruiting cycle, with big names such as Eric Rivers, Dean Patterson, and 2026 recruit Kentrell Davis. And that is what puts the Yellow Jackets in a great position moving forward as a program.

Yes, he added Rivers and Patterson for 2025, but it will be the only season that they will spend in the program, as they are seniors, as well as Malik Rutherford, who has been with the Yellow Jackets for the past four seasons.

So it was important that the Yellow Jackets reload for the future, and Key did exactly that. And it is not all bad next season for the Yellow Jackets at the position in terms of experience, as they have a handful of receivers that will see the field this season and return, such as Zion Taylor, Isiah Canion, Debron Gatling, and Chris Elko.

The position is set up for the future for the Yellow Jackets well, and Key should receive a lot of credit for being able to pull in the guys that he was able to this offseason to make that happen.
