With the release of the 2025 Women’s ACC-SEC Challenge, fans of teams now have their first glimpse at who their team will be facing next season as a part of their nonconference schedule. And while some teams should be ecstatic about their matchups, at least one team’s fans can let out an audible groan: the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fans.
The Yellow Jackets will be paired up against the Texas A&M Aggies for the ACC-SEC Challenge, and to say that these two teams are uneven would be an understatement. The Yellow Jackets reached the NCAA Tournament last season before a heartbreaking loss to the Richmond Spiders. Where were the Aggies? They were the No.16 seed in the SEC Tournament, the lowest of any qualified team to reach it, and even got trounced 77-37 by the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round.
The Yellow Jackets are a program on the rise, led by upcoming sophomore Dani Carnegie, who made the ACC All-American First Team last season, and even won the ACC Sixth Woman of the Year award last year.
I get that the Yellow Jackets have a new coach coming in in Karen Blair, but the team will not take much of a step back from their 22-11 record last season, and a No.4 seed in the ACC Tournament, where they nearly knocked off the No.1-seeded NC State Wolfpack in the semifinals.
The game is set to be played on Dec. 3, with no announcement yet on with the top off time will be.
