The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team is ranked in the AP Top 25 poll for the sixth consecutive week, as they come in at No.17 in the most recent poll that was released earlier today.
Fans of the team couldn’t help but wonder how far the Yellow Jackets would fall after having a tumultuous week on the court, heading into the week 15-0 and ending the week 15-2 after losses to the Virginia Tech Hokies in double overtime, 104-95, and the Louisville Cardinals, 69-60.
The Yellow Jackets are also dealing with losing what could be the team’s best player this season, in Dani Carnegie, who went down with a hamstring injury in the third quarter of the Yellow Jackets loss to the Hokies. Against the Cardinals, the Yellow Jackets would have their worst offensive outing of the season, setting a new season-low of 60 points.
With Carnegie’s injury status still up in the air, the Yellow Jackets hope that the standout freshman is able to come back quickly, as they can not afford to keep moving down in polls and sliding down in rankings as the midway point of the season comes up. If Carnegie isn’t able to suit up, they Yellow Jackets could split time between sophomore guard Armianda Termis and junior guard Ines Noguero again this week.
This week, the Yellow Jackets have a major test when they travel to South Bend, Indiana on Thursday to take on the No.3 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and couple it with a home game on Sunday, when they host the Clemson Tigers.
