In their first NCAA Women's Tournament bid since the 2021-22 season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were allotted a nine seed in this year's tournament, meaning that they would get matched up against an eight seed, which turned out to be the Richmond Spiders.

The two teams are trending in opposite directions, as the Spiders won 17 games straight while reaching the A-10 Championship Game, before losing to the St. Joseph Hawks 50-49 in the championship game.

The Yellow Jackets, on the other hand, started the season hot, as they would win their first 15 games, before falling apart in the second half. The Yellow Jackets have lost five of their last six games, with their only win coming in the second round of the ACC Tournament, when they defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 72-57. The Yellow Jackets would lose in the quarterfinals to the top-seeded NC State Wolfpack 73-72.

The Yellow Jackets are trying to get their first NCAA Tournament win since their Sweet Sixteen run in the 2020-21 season, while the Spiders are looking for their first tournament win in school history.

The Yellow Jackets are led by the duo of Tonie Morgan and Kara Dunn, two players that have stepped up when needed in the second half of the season, while the Spiders are led by Maggie Doogan, who leads the team in four of five major statistical categories this season: points, rebounds, assists, and blocks.

The two teams are set to tip off at 7:30 Eastern time tomorrow.
