The 2025 NFL Draft has now officially over with, with some college football programs happy about how many of their players got picked, and some being disappointed about how many their college got picked. However, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fans should be happy with the results of the draft, as there are now two new Yellow Jackets alumni in the NFL: tight end Jackson Hawes and defensive lineman Zeek Biggers.
Hawes was the first Yellow Jackets player off the board, as the Buffalo Bills took him at No.173 in the draft. Hawes goes into what could be a favorable offense for him, as the Bills run a lot of two tight end sets, with 40% o their offensive snaps last season having two tight ends on the field. Hawes will be behind Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid in the depth chart, but Knox missed three games last season due to injury, so he could see some playing time if he reaches the 53 man roster.
Biggers went to the Miami Dolphins as pick No. 253 in the seventh round of the draft, and a place where he will have to try and prove himself in training camp for the 53-man opening week roster spot. Biggers could turn some heads in training camp, as the Dolphins do not have a strong defensive line group, and Biggers has the opportunity to capitalize on that with the position being presumably wide open heading into training camp.
After the Yellow Jackets had zero picks in the draft last season, seeing two picks in this draft is a sigh of relief.
