The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will try to keep their season alive today against one of the best teams in the country, as they take on the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the second round of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils are one of the most complete teams in the entire country, so beating them will be no easy feat, but here is how the Yellow Jackets can do it.
If the Yellow Jackets stand any chance to beat the Blue Devils, it starts by having a big day inside the paint. Every team that has beaten the Blue Devils this season has had great performances by their big men in the post, whether it be Andrew Carr and Amari Williams from Kentucky, Hunter Dickinson and KJ Adams, or Ian Schiefflin and Viktor Lakhin from Clemson. All of these big men had huge days scoring and rebounding for their team in wins over the Blue Devils.
Who could that duo be for the Yellow Jackets? Most likely it will be Baye Ndongo and Duncan Powell, which works out well for the Yellow Jackets because they are both coming off stellar performances yesterday against the Virginia Cavaliers, with Ndongo putting up 16 points and ten rebounds, while Powell had a team-high 21 points and three rebounds.
If guards Naithan George and Lance Terry can find that duo early and often, the Yellow Jackets could very well be heading to the semifinals with a win over the Blue Devils.
The game is set to tip off at Noon Eastern time.
