The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team has now found out it’s fate for the NCAA Tournament, as it was announced that the team will be playing in the Oxford region in the tournament, along with three other schools: the Ole Miss Rebels, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, and the Murray State Racers. So how would the Yellow Jackets stack up to all three? Let’s find out.
The Racers could give the Yellow Jackets the best shot at winning, but I doubt that the Yellow Jackets would be able to play the Racers, as the Racers will undoubtedly lose to the Rebels in the first round, and they won’t have to worry about the possible matchup.
The Hilltoppers do present a small threat, as the Yellow Jackets have struggled here and there this season against lower rated teams. They nearly lost to Mercer and Georgia Southern earlier this season, so while I do not think that the Yellow Jackets will lose in the first round to the Hilltoppers, it could be something to keep your eye on.
The Rebels by far present the biggest challenge, as they are the host for the Oxford region and advanced all the way to the SEC Championship game before eventually losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Rebels beat the Arkansas Razorbacks and LSU Tigers to get to the championship game, earning them a one-seed in their region and getting a host site bid.
The talent with the top two teams in the region are insane, and it should be fun to watch how it plays out for both the teams.
