It is no new secret that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are one of the best teams in all of college baseball, at least when they are playing up to their potential. The problem is that the team can act like a roller coaster ride, with all the highs and lows, which results in fans and analysts not knowing what to think of the team day to day.
The Yellow Jackets got off to one of the best starts in program history this season, as they sat at 20-4 at one point this season, but towards the middle of the season, the team took their first dip in production, as they would lose seven games in a row at one point, looking for any momentum to head towards the end of the season.
That momentum was created when the Yellow Jackets finished the season by winning 10 of 12 games, including series wins over the then-ranked Louisville Cardinals and Duke Blue Devils, clinching their first regular season ACC Championship since 2005.
In the ACC tournament, the Yellow Jackets looked like the best team in the tournament in the quarterfinals when they hit seven home runs to beat the California Golden Bears, but then a semifinals loss to the Clemson Tigers brought the Yellow Jackets back down to Earth.
Now, the Yellow Jackets can not afford to play one game of inconsistent baseball in the Oxford region in the NCAA Tournament, as it could be something that is season-ending against the Murray State Racers, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, or Ole Miss Rebels.
