In what would be a match up of two teams fighting to secure one of the top-5 seeds in the ACC tournament, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would host the Florida State Seminoles.

The Yellow Jackets would come into the contest looking to remain ranked after an 83-68 loss to the No.10 ranked NC State Wolfpack, while the Seminoles would be trying to get back into the AP Top 25 after falling out of the rankings last week. The winner of the contest would surely be ranked when the new AP poll releases today, so it was a battle for a spot there.

Neither team could separate themselves from the other team, as the Yellow Jackets would hold the biggest lead from either team in the first half when they led by six in the second quarter., and holding a 34-31 lead at halftime.

The action would start to heat up in the third quarter, as the Seminoles would start to pull away, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 26-15 in the quarter to go up 57-49 to start the fourth quarter.

The Seminoles would lead by as much as 12 points in the fourth quarter, but with the Seminoles up 64-52 with eight minutes left in the game, the Yellow Jackets would put together a ferocious comeback, as they tied the game 66-66 with two minutes remaining.

Both teams would swap back and forth baskets before the Seminoles would grab a rebound after a Yellow Jackets miss up two with 18 seconds left. A pair of made free throws made the score 72-68. A quick layup by the Yellow Jackets would cut the lead to 72-70. The Seminoles would then attempt four free throws, but only make one of them, putting them up 73-70 with four seconds left in the game.

Yellow Jackets guard Tonie Morgan would grab the rebound off the missed free throw and get down court in enough time to put up a desperation three-point attempt, but it fell short to secure the 73-70 victory for the Seminoles.

Tianna Thompson would lead the Yellow Jackets in points with 19, while the only other Yellow Jackets player to score in double digits was Dani Carnegie, who put up 10.
