The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets season seems to be going off the rails in the past two weeks, with the team ending a seven game losing streak on Sunday, when they were finally able to pull of a win, in walk off fashion nonetheless, against the Virginia Cavaliers, 7-6. Most of the blame for the losing skid went to the lineup, as they were only able to score nine runs in five games heading into the weekend series against the Cavaliers. However, the pitching rotation would let the Yellow Jackets down, but there was one pitcher that stood tall this weekend: Mason Patel.

Patel has long been the best relief pitcher on the Yellow Jackets team, as he has just showed out in every big moment that he has been a part of. For example, him starting the season 7-0 and competing with the best ERA at one point was a huge plus for the Yellow Jackets.

Over the weekend, Patel would make two appearances, one of Friday and one on Sunday. On Friday, the Yellow Jackets would use a slew of pitchers, but Patel seemed to be one that had a solid outing, pitching two innings, and while he did allow four hits and three runs, he would more than make up for it with a stellar performance Sunday, as he would pitch the last three innings of the game and nly allow one hit and zero runs to come through, but most importantly, securing a victory for the Yellow Jackets.
