In what would be his first appearance of the season, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets graduate Mason Patel came in for relief and delivered a game that should be noteworthy for the team.

Yellow Jackets freshman Connor Chicoli would get his first start for the team, but after just two innings on work, manager Danny Hall would come to the mound to pull him off and bring in Patel for relief with the Yellow Jackets tied 3-3

Patel would get off to a magnificent start, striking out five of the first six batters that he faced, including all three in the fourth inning. Over the course of the game, Patel would strike out four more Eagles to bring his total for the game up to nine. But, that was just the start to a magnificent day for the senior, as he would go on to pitch 5.1 innings for the Yellow Jackets.

In those 5.1 innings, the only hit that the Eagles would get would be a single right before Patel was taken out of the game.

Over the course of those 5.1 innings, the Yellow Jackets offense was lackluster at times, and only scored two runs, but it was enough for the team to secure a 5-3 victory, with Patel getting his first win of the season.

In a starting rotation that is looking for holes to fill near the bottom, Patel made a strong case tonight for him to be one of the guys that should be in consideration for a spot in the rotation.
