Every offseason, fans watch online every day to see when new polls and rankings for the preseason will come out, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fans should be rejoiced to find that two players on the team were selected as Second Team All-Americans by the Phil Steele College Football Preview: guard Keylan Rutledge and wide receiver Eric Rivers.
Rutledge returns for what will be his final season with the Yellow Jackets, and one that could make him a player to watch in next year's NFL Draft. In his 400 snaps that he has played in his college career, Rutledge has only had two blown assignments. Rutledge was a key part of the Yellow Jackets success last season as a leader of an offensive line group that gave up just nine sacks, the third-fewest in the entire country, and a rushing attack that put up 187 yards per game last season, second in the ACC.
Rivers is a transfer senior that comes to the Yellow Jackets from the Florida International Panthers, where he became one of the best receivers in any Power 5 conference last season, finishing the season with 1,172 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, proving himself as one of the best play makers in the country.
While Rutledge and Rivers made All-American teams, various other Yellow Jackets players made the All-ACC teams:
Jordan Van Den Berg, DL, First Team
Jamal Haynes, RB, Second Team
Kyle Efford, LB, Second Team
Malik Rutherford, WR, Third Team
Haynes King, QB, Fourth Team
Ahmari Harvey, CB, Fourth Team
Marshall Nichols, P, Fourth Team
