A new era of Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball is underway, as the team will be without manager Danny Hall for the first time in 33 seasons. Instead, the Yellow Jackets will take the field under a new manager: James Ramsey.
Ramsey joined the Yellow Jackets staff in 2019, where he took on the role of an assistant head coach, then in 2021 was promoted to associate head coach.
Ramsey has been pivotal to the Yellow Jackets success in recent seasons as the teams hitting coach. The lineup for the Yellow Jackets seen an explosion of hits since Ramsey has joined the team, leading the entire ACC in hits (3,961), doubles (796), and batting average (.308).
Under the guidance of Ramsey, the offense for the Yellow Jackets has become one of the best not only in the ACC, but across the entire college baseball landscape.
Ramsey has also been the Yellow Jackets recruiting coordinator since his arrival in 2019, and showed promise last season in signing the No.2 ranked recruiting class in the entire nation, which included signing the 2025 ACC Freshman of the Year, Alex Hernandez, who was arguably the Yellow Jackets second-best player behind Drew Burress last season.
Ramsey will take over a young team that has tons of potential, as the Yellow Jackets makes the NCAA Tournament as a No.2 seed in their region, and are relatively young compared to other teams around the country. Ramsey will have two players that will be returning to him next season that could wind up being All-Americans: Hernandez and Brady Jones, both of which were freshman last season. He could have a third depending on if All-American Drew Burress decides to stay with the Yellow Jackets for another season over entering the MLB Draft.
