Offensive Leaders
Georgia Tech comes into the game just outside the top 10 in the national rankings. The Jackets have been electric on offense this season. Averaging 476.8 yards per game and have shown impressive balance.
Quarterback Haynes King leads the way. He’s thrown for 971 yards and four touchdowns while completing over 71% of his passes. King is also Georgia Tech’s leading rusher. With 440 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.
Receiver Eric Rivers has been reliable, catching 21 passes for 249 yards and one score. He’s also added 80 yards in punt returns. Another key weapon is Malachi Hosley, who has 416 all-purpose yards, and five rushing touchdowns.
But the offense isn’t the only story. Both Georgia Tech and Duke have mixed explosive performances with a few defensive struggles. Saturday’s contest could come down to which defense stands firm.
On third downs, Duke’s offense has converted just under 43 percent of its chances. Georgia Tech sits at 38 percent. The Jackets’ defense will need to step up on 3rd down. Creating short fields for the offense will be another factor.
Head coach Brent Key said he’s excited for the challenge of going on the road again.
“Playing on the road is awesome,” Key said. “It’s another chance for us to come together as a football team… We relish that and we’re excited for it.”
Expect a fast-paced game between two high-powered offenses. With ACC standings on the line, every possession will matter.
