On Thursday night, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hosted the Clemson Tigers in what they thought should have been an east win over a struggling 11-13 Tigers team, but the Tigers had other plans, knocking off the Yellow Jackets 68-61.

The win gives the Tigers their second win against a ranked opponent this season, having been 1-7 coming into the contest, with the only win coming against the California Bears on Jan. 2.

The Yellow Jackets won the previous meeting between the two teams earlier this season 89-65.

The game was relatively close to begin with until the Yellow Jackets hit a scoring drought in the middle of the third quarter, going nearly four minutes without scoring a point. While the Yellow Jackets seemingly could not get anything to drop in the second quarter, the Tigers capitalized on the opportunity by scoring 23 points in the second quarter to take a 37-26 lead at halftime.

From there, the Tigers would fend off the Yellow Jackets for the rest of the contest, not allowing the Yellow Jackets to get within less than six points in the second half. The Tigers would lead by as much as 15 in the second half.

Yellow Jackets forward Kara Dunn would lead the Yellow Jackets in points with 18, while Kayla Blackshear and Tonie Morgan would each scored 11 points in the contest. Zoesha Smith would lead the Yellow Jackets in rebounds with 12.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Sunday, as they look to rebound against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 12:00 pm Eastern time.
